Lebanese News Website: Hezbollah intends to attack Western targets
According to the Lebanese news website, the Beirut Observer, the Jihadist terrorist organization Hezbollah is planning to attack Western targets. The site based its report on information obtained by a “Western intelligence agency” that intercepted message traffic to that effect.
The Observer reported that unnamed Western intelligence officials think that Hezbollah plans to attack Western targets, based on unusual movement of suspected Hezbollah and Iranian Revolutionary Guards operatives.
The article claimed that the goal of the attack would be to distract global public opinion from indictments expected to be handed down by a special UN tribunal investigating the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
It has been widely speculated that the UN tribunal will accuse Hezbollah members of involvement in the huge bomb attack on Hariri’s motorcade.
According to the Israeli news site Haaretz, earlier this week Israel’s counter terrorism bureau issued a warning that terrorists intended to carry out attacks against Israelis and Jewish targets abroad, specifying India, Thailand, Greece and Turkey as areas where an attack could take place. It is not known if the Israeli bulletin is related to the report on Hezbollah from the Beirut Observer.
Al Qaeda is known to be active in Turkey, where anti-Israeli sentiment has been on the rise for some time as Islamists expand and consolidate their political power. In addition to Hezbollah, Al Qaeda or other Turkish Jihadist groups could be motivated to attack Israeli or Jewish targets in Turkey.
Of course, India has been inflicted with a virtual menagerie of Jihadist terrorist groups, both domestic and from neighboring Pakistan. Lashkar-e-Taiba pulled off the spectacular Mumbai attacks targeting Jewish targets, but it is far from the only group operating in India, any of which could be prompted to attack Israeli or Jewish targets in India, either of their own volition or in the service of allied organizations.
Thailand has been wracked by a Jihadist insurgency for years in its southern regions. The Thai Jihadists are somewhat of an enigma and their ties to other Jihadist groups are unclear, but Thailand is an enormously popular tourist destination for Israeli and European tourists.
There is known to be Al Qaeda activity in Greece and Al Qaeda operatives have been apprehended there.
What all this adds up to is we could be talking about one threat or two distinct threats, one reported by the Beirut Observer from Hezbollah and another from Israeli authorities from unnamed terrorists in the four nations mentioned.
The possibility of Hezbollah launching attacks against the West in either Europe or the US has long been a deep concern for national security and counterterrorism practitioners. Hezbollah has been in existence for a decade longer than Al Qaeda and has been amply funded and equipped by Iran. Hezbollah is a much larger organization than Al Qaeda and is known to have cells, operatives and sympathizers spread throughout the world, including Asia, Europe and North and South America. Hezbollah has been referred to as the “A” team of Jihadist terrorism and Al Qaeda the “B” team. In fact Hezbollah trained Al Qaeda terrorists in Sudan during the 1990s.
Hezbollah is uniquely qualified to carry out terrorist attacks in the West. Such an attack would certainly not be unprecedented.
Hezbollah is believed to have carried out two bomb attacks in Argentina against the Israeli embassy in 1992 and at a Jewish Community Center in 1994. More than 120 innocent civilians were killed in those attacks. The attacks are also believed to have been carried out with Iranian support.
This makes sense since Hezbollah receives funding, arms and training from Iran, especially through Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.
An example of suspicious Iranian activity in support of possible terrorist strikes occurred in New York back from 2002 to 2006 when members of the Iranian UN mission were repeatedly caught by the NYPD for conducting obvious reconnaissance of New York landmarks and subways.
We can be sure that, when and if Hezbollah or Iran decide to strike in the West, the targets were already selected and prepped by operatives in place long before the attack occurs.
Japanese tanker damaged in Strait of Hormuz
The Japanese oil tanker M Star was damaged in an explosion in the Strait of Hormuz today. It is unclear what the cause of the explosion was.
A crewman reported seeing a flash on the horizon just prior to the explosion, suggesting an attack, however, Omani authorities are saying there is no evidence of an attack, blaming an “earthquake” for the explosion.
We’ve heard a lot of bullcrap in our time, but this “earthquake” causing an explosion on a supertanker theory might be the most absurd thing we’ve ever heard.
Fortunately, there were no casualties and no oil leaked into the Persian Gulf.
A terrorist attack on an oil tanker in the region is certainly not unprecedented. In October 2002, Al Qaeda carried out a seaborne Islamikaze attack on the French tanker Limburg, killing one of its crew and punching a hole in its hull.

Hezbollah poses growing threat south of the border
Rep. Sue Myrick, R-N.C., recently sent a letter to the Department of Homeland Security asking it to form a task force to investigate growing ties between Hezbollah and the drug cartels as well as growing evidence of a Hezbollah presence in Mexico.
Myrick says Farsi tattoos have been found on members of drug gangs in U.S. prisons. Farsi is the native language of Iran. She also raised concerns over Hezbollah’s training of Mexican cartels in making car bombs and in sophisticated tunneling techniques used in its war against Israel.
If the cartels are able to smuggle drugs and people into the U.S., it has not escaped the attention of groups like Hezbollah and al-Qaida that they are also capable of smuggling other things into the U.S. — like trained terrorists or the makings of a dirty bomb.

CNN Editor Mourns Death of Hezbollah “Giant”–UPDATE: She’s Done
In what simply must be one of the more disgusting displays of sympathy for evil in recent memory, CNN’s senior editor of Middle East affairs, Octavia Nasr, a Lebanese native now enjoying the fruits of liberty as a resident of Atlanta, Georgia, released the following statement on her Twitter account upon hearing of the death of Hezbollah terrorist ideologue Ayatollah Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah:
“Sad to hear of the passing of Sayyed Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah… One of Hezbollah’s giants I respect a lot.”
First of all, Nasr’s use of the honorific title “Sayyed” is particularly telling. This is a title meant to belie esteem and is reserved for those who are thought to be descendants of the Islamic prophet mohammed.
Fadlallah was best known as the inspirational leader and key ideologue for the terrorist group Hezbollah. This makes Nasr’s admiration for him disturbing to say the least. There is no other word for it: sympathizer. Fadlallah was a Jihadist terrorist. He may not have killed with a sword, but he most assuredly inspired thousands of others to do so.
And hundreds of the victims were Americans.
Yet CNN’s Octavia Nasr “respected” him–“a lot.”
Let us examine the implications of a Hezbollah groupie in a leadership role in one of America’s largest (yet shrinking) media organizations.
Hezbollah burst onto the world scene in April 1983 when they bombed the US embassy in Beirut, Lebanon, killing 63 people, including 17 Americans.
On October 23rd, 1983, Hezbollah struck again, attacking the Marine Barracks at the Beirut International Airport, killing 241 servicemen acting as peacekeepers for the United Nations.
In 1985, Hezbollah terrorists hijacked TWA Flight 847 and killed US Navy sailor Robert Stethem who happened to be a passenger on board.
Hezbollah continued their terrorist ways in the late 1980s with the kidnapping and murder of US Marine Colonel William Higgins, who was also on a UN mission.
Some people thought that Hezbollah was no longer an enemy of the USA by the time September 11th, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom rolled around. Not so.
Though it has not received much attention, on at least two occasions, Hezbollah terrorists have been captured in Iraq fighting US forces:
http://gulfnews.com/news/region/iraq/troops-capture-top-hezbollah-officer-1.188167
http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/07/02/iraq.hezbollah/index.html
More recently, a long-time Hezbollah terrorist involved in the 1985 TWA 847 hijacking was killed by US forces in Pakistan, near the Afghan border…
It seems the terrorist, Mohammed Ali Hamadi, upon being released from prison in Germany, decided that the thing to do was go work for the Taliban. A coincidence we’re certain…
These are the monsters that Fadlallah inspired. And CNN’s Octavia Nasr respected him…a lot.
UPDATE: Octavia Nasr gone from CNN after pro-Jihadist comments
Mediate.com obtained an internal CNN memo which says of Nasr: “We believe that her credibility in her position as senior editor for Middle Eastern affairs has been compromised.” (That’s putting it mildly to say the least.)
In a blog post expanding on her position, Nasr wrote that it “was an error of judgment for me to write such a simplistic comment and I’m sorry because it conveyed that I supported Fadlallah’s life’s work.” (It didn’t CONVEY anything. It’s what she WROTE.)

Iranian Jihadist Visits Terror Trends Bulletin
This morning while we were going through our email we came across a notification of a comment on one of our old blog postings here on TTB.
The posting that prompted the comment was our commentary on Barack Obama’s speech directed toward the leaders and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran back in March:
The commenter dubbed himself “Mahdi,” which we think highly presumptuous on his part, but we suppose every man is entitled to his own delusions.
For those TTB readers who aren’t entirely familiar with the term “Mahdi,” here is a brief rundown:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahdi
We think that rather than “Mahdi” perhaps a more fitting handle for this commenter might be “Moron.” But perhaps “Moron” and “Mahdi” actually mean the same thing. That’s something certainly worth looking into…
We did some tracking and Mr. Mahdi has a blog himself:
http://Bavelayat.parsiblog.com/
On that blog, Mr. Mahdi has posted a picture of himself. (We’d post pictures of ourselves on TTB as well, but we don’t want to have to handle all the incoming fan mail from adoring female fans in the Western world, but I digress…)
We don’t speak Farsi or Persian or Gibberish so we can’t tell what Mr. Mahdi has posted on his web site, but judging from all the photos of the Supreme Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, we have a general idea of the tone anyway.
Here are some other photos of Ayatollah Khamenei which may give clues to just what type of web site Mr. Mahdi is running…(not that there is anything wrong with that!)
By now you might be wondering what Mr. Mahdi posted in his comment to TTB. Well, here it is:
Death to America
the blood in our veins is a gift to our leader(Khamenei)
It’s not particularly original. The Iranian jihadists have been singing that same old sorry tune for 30 years now. But I guess it’s the best Mr. Mahdi could come up with so, we’ll give him a free pass…
Oh, we responded to Mr. Mahdi’s comment with a comment of our own, which we thought was particularly relevant to his offer to shed blood (and other bodily fluids, no doubt) for his “leader.” It’s pretty self-explanatory.
“No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country.
He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country.”
General George S. Patton, Jr.
So, thank you for playing Mr. Mahdi, you can go back to what ever it is that you do over on your blog (not that there is anything wrong with that…)
The UN, Iran and Hezbollah
Just when you thought things couldn’t get any more absurd…they do.
Ben Evansky of Fox News has revealed that soon the Jihadist terrorist organization Hezbollah and its Iranian sponsors will have their man installed at the United Nations Security Council in the form of Lebanon’s UN ambassador…
A Year of Jihad in America (December 2008 to December 2009)
There is mounting evidence that the global Jihadist insurgency is fully entrenched in the USA.
After the Fort Hood massacre news services seem divided between those hell-bent-for-leather on denying that it was a case of anything other than a persecuted loner “snapping” and those who proclaimed it the first “terrorist” attack on US soil since September 11th.
Both were wrong.
As we mentioned in our last posting, Fort Hood was an act of Jihad and that’s really all that matters:
Fort Hood it was hardly the first act of Jihad on US soil since September 11th. A few examples come to mind:
• The Anthrax Attacks (Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I do NOT buy the official line on these attacks, but that’s a posting for another time and place.)
• The DC “Sniper” Shootings (There is a great deal of evidence that John MOHAMMED carried out these attacks in the name of Allah.)
• The LAX Shooting at the El Al Ticket Counter
Note that it makes little difference if the perpetrators are members of a previously known terrorist organization (such as Al Qaeda) or were lone actors. Actually, it DOES make a difference. It is difficult to combat a shadowy organization like Al Qaeda, but it is far more difficult to combat lone wolf actors. Al Qaeda may be difficult to infiltrate and gather intelligence on, but how do we “infiltrate” a lone Jihadist?
This is symptomatic of a revolutionary Jihadist subculture metastasizing within the American Muslim community, especially within its mosques and organizations. This revolutionary subculture has produced an atmosphere in which Muslims are inspired to act violently. This is a very dangerous and volatile situation.
Over the last 12 months alone, we have been provided with a stack of evidence of the Jihadist insurgency inside America. Americans have largely ignored this evidence, or at least failed to “connect the dots.” Seemingly completely unrelated cases do in fact have common threads: they are acts of Jihad.
I decided to go back and research examples of Jihad in America over the last 12 months, roughly 1 December 2008 to 1 December 2009. Using the following sources, as well as Google, I have compiled this list of incidents, cases, actions, statements and plots which point to a Jihadist insurgency in our midst (Keep in mind that insurgencies are 80% civilizational/political and 20% violent/militant.):
Militant Islam Monitor

Jihad Watch
Counterterrorism Blog
http://counterterrorismblog.org/
NEFA Foundation
The Investigative Project on Terrorism
http://www.investigativeproject.org

http://www.investigativeproject
Free Republic
The list is compiled in reverse chronological order, meaning that the most recent items are listed first. We no doubt left out some cases. If any readers know of any cases that we left out, please comment and we will amend this posting. We think that all of these cases and incidents brought together on a single listing will prompt most readers to conclude that the magnitude of the threat we face inside the USA is greater than they previously believed.

Shariah-Compliant Finance Helps Terrorist Banks in Iran
If ever there was evidence of the sinister nature of Shariah-Compliant Finance, it can be found in Iran.
Iran is the world’s foremost terrorist-sponsoring nation, a country which sponsors Hezbollah, HAMAS and Al Qaeda.
Iran also supports the Taliban with weaponry in their fight against NATO forces in Afghanistan. And it is common knowledge that Iran is the principle supplier and training ground for insurgents in Iraq.
On top of all this, Iran is working feverishly on nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.
Oh, and there is one other thing about Iran which you should know: Iran dominates Shariah-Compliant Finance.

Baloney from Obama on North Korea–and Covering for Iran
In the video below, President Obama is asked if his policies toward North Korea and Iran are accomplishing anything, other than buying those two nations time to expand their nuclear programs.
This was a surprisingly excellent question from the media–and one that could only have been asked overseas. There is simply no way in hell that any member of the lapdog White House press corps, which may as well be a branch of the administration staff, would have sacked up to ask this question.
Predictably, Obama, sans teleprompter, stuttered and stammered his way clumsily through a non-answer. Watch as French President Nicolas Sarkozy, whose administration led negotiations with Iran for some time and was critical of Obama’s naivete’ regarding Iran, is clearly uncomfortable sitting next to Obama as our president pratfalls his way through his attempt at an answer:
There is much that is troubling about Obama’s answer, besides his obvious inability to articulate on the subject.
He appears to be taking shots at the Bush administration by stating repeatedly that North Korea will no longer be rewarded for bad behavior.
But the fact is, his policy toward North Korea is EXACTLY a continuance of the Bush policy: We’ve got Russia and China on our side…
Russia and China are NOT on our side here. China in particular has a long history of supplying arms to North Korea. Without Russia and China, in fact, North Korea’s nuclear program would be a group of physicists in a lab conducting experiments and nothing more.
It is especially ironic that Obama is attempting to distance himself from the Bush policies given that he himself personally selected the architect of the Bush policy toward North Korea, Christopher R. Hill, to be ambassador to Iraq, where, even more ominously, he will no doubt have to interact with the neighboring Iranians. Obama picked him over the desires of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who wanted retired Marine General Anthony Zinni for the Iraq ambassadorship. This is an indication of just how impressed Obama is with Hill.
We can only shudder to think what Hill might give away to appease the Iranians. He had North Korea taken off the terrorist-sponsoring list, above the objections of US ally Japan, because of their perceived “cooperation” on their nuclear program, only to watch with his thumb up his you-know-where as they went back on those agreements after the fact. If there is one man in the United States of America who we do NOT want dealing with the Iranians, it is Christopher R. Hill.
Note in the video that Obama completely ignores the issue of Iran. He does not even attempt to answer that part of the question and basically covers up the Iranians’ actions:
1. Like North Korea, Iran has also conducted ballistic missile tests.
2. Iran has announced that they are now spinning 7200 centrifuges–in violation of international treaties and UN Security Council resolutions.
3. Iran has refused to cooperate with IAEA inspectors–again, in violation of international treaties and UN Security Council resolutions.
4. Iran continues to supply heavy weapons to the Taliban, which the Taliban use to kill US GIs in Afghanistan
Obama mentions none of this.
Why?
Taliban continue to get heavy weapons from Iran
For years now, NATO commanders have been saying that Iran has been supplying weaponry to the Taliban in Afghanistan.
For instance, General Petraeus told reporters back in February that Iran was aiding the Taliban:
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?sid=aru5H2YB1Tv8&pid=20601087
However, these reports go at least all the way back to 2007, when a US State Department representative cited irrefutable evidence of Iran arming the Taliban:
http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapcf/06/13/iran.taliban/index.html
In fact, NATO intercepted a shipment of arms from Iran to the Taliban just about two years ago:
http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2007/06/document_iran_c.html
Nevertheless, some on the Left have been skeptical of Iran’s support for the Taliban, based on the fact that the Taliban are Salafi Sunni Muslims and the Iranians are Shiite Muslims.
This type of blind dogma continues to hamstring US policy, despite overwhelming evidence that Iran works enthusiastically with Sunnis against the West.
For instance, HAMAS receives the lion’s share of its funding and arms from Iran, despite the fact that HAMAS is a Sunni terrorist offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood, another Salafi Sunni organization. This is not in dispute. Iran admits that they fund HAMAS and HAMAS admits that they get money from Iran.
Moreover, Iran has also aided the Taliban’s greatest ally, Al Qaeda, another Salafi Sunni terrorist organization. Many continue to dispute that Iran sponsors Al Qaeda, but the facts are out there for analysis, as yours truly wrote in National Review back in March 2008:
http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=OGE0ZWE0MWVjMmI2YjI4NzI1OTg2YzZmMjJjNzMwOGY
Despite Iran’s record of aiding Sunni terrorist organizations and the Taliban in particular, the Obama administration has been trumpeting the idea of enlisting Iran’s aid in the battle against…those same Taliban.
The problem is, predictably, the hairbrained scheme to get the Iranians to help NATO battle the Taliban in Afghanistan is running into a little problem: Iran is arming the Taliban.
What now Obama?
