UK Telegraph: Al-Qaeda ‘plotting another 9/11’ from Afghanistan

Al-Qaeda fighters have returned to Afghanistan and will use the country as a base to launch September 11-style attacks on Western cities, according to the American ambassador to Kabul.

The headline for this article is a bit misleading, but many Americans are in denial when it comes to Afghanistan under the Taliban. The Taliban turned Afghanistan into a launching pad for global jihad. Al Qaeda was but one group that flocked to Afghanistan when the Taliban were in charge. Jihadis from Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific Rim all went to train in Afghanistan under the Taliban.

Should the Taliban come to power again, it is almost certain that Afghanistan will eventually become a launching pad for global jihad once again.
