Lebanese News Website: Hezbollah intends to attack Western targets
According to the Lebanese news website, the Beirut Observer, the Jihadist terrorist organization Hezbollah is planning to attack Western targets. The site based its report on information obtained by a “Western intelligence agency” that intercepted message traffic to that effect.
The Observer reported that unnamed Western intelligence officials think that Hezbollah plans to attack Western targets, based on unusual movement of suspected Hezbollah and Iranian Revolutionary Guards operatives.
The article claimed that the goal of the attack would be to distract global public opinion from indictments expected to be handed down by a special UN tribunal investigating the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
It has been widely speculated that the UN tribunal will accuse Hezbollah members of involvement in the huge bomb attack on Hariri’s motorcade.
According to the Israeli news site Haaretz, earlier this week Israel’s counter terrorism bureau issued a warning that terrorists intended to carry out attacks against Israelis and Jewish targets abroad, specifying India, Thailand, Greece and Turkey as areas where an attack could take place. It is not known if the Israeli bulletin is related to the report on Hezbollah from the Beirut Observer.
Al Qaeda is known to be active in Turkey, where anti-Israeli sentiment has been on the rise for some time as Islamists expand and consolidate their political power. In addition to Hezbollah, Al Qaeda or other Turkish Jihadist groups could be motivated to attack Israeli or Jewish targets in Turkey.
Of course, India has been inflicted with a virtual menagerie of Jihadist terrorist groups, both domestic and from neighboring Pakistan. Lashkar-e-Taiba pulled off the spectacular Mumbai attacks targeting Jewish targets, but it is far from the only group operating in India, any of which could be prompted to attack Israeli or Jewish targets in India, either of their own volition or in the service of allied organizations.
Thailand has been wracked by a Jihadist insurgency for years in its southern regions. The Thai Jihadists are somewhat of an enigma and their ties to other Jihadist groups are unclear, but Thailand is an enormously popular tourist destination for Israeli and European tourists.
There is known to be Al Qaeda activity in Greece and Al Qaeda operatives have been apprehended there.
What all this adds up to is we could be talking about one threat or two distinct threats, one reported by the Beirut Observer from Hezbollah and another from Israeli authorities from unnamed terrorists in the four nations mentioned.
The possibility of Hezbollah launching attacks against the West in either Europe or the US has long been a deep concern for national security and counterterrorism practitioners. Hezbollah has been in existence for a decade longer than Al Qaeda and has been amply funded and equipped by Iran. Hezbollah is a much larger organization than Al Qaeda and is known to have cells, operatives and sympathizers spread throughout the world, including Asia, Europe and North and South America. Hezbollah has been referred to as the “A” team of Jihadist terrorism and Al Qaeda the “B” team. In fact Hezbollah trained Al Qaeda terrorists in Sudan during the 1990s.
Hezbollah is uniquely qualified to carry out terrorist attacks in the West. Such an attack would certainly not be unprecedented.
Hezbollah is believed to have carried out two bomb attacks in Argentina against the Israeli embassy in 1992 and at a Jewish Community Center in 1994. More than 120 innocent civilians were killed in those attacks. The attacks are also believed to have been carried out with Iranian support.
This makes sense since Hezbollah receives funding, arms and training from Iran, especially through Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.
An example of suspicious Iranian activity in support of possible terrorist strikes occurred in New York back from 2002 to 2006 when members of the Iranian UN mission were repeatedly caught by the NYPD for conducting obvious reconnaissance of New York landmarks and subways.
We can be sure that, when and if Hezbollah or Iran decide to strike in the West, the targets were already selected and prepped by operatives in place long before the attack occurs.

The Obama Security Team’s Greatest Hits
We can all feel safe and secure knowing that Obama’s crack national security team is on the job…right???
Janet Napolitano claims on CNN Dec. 27, 2009 that the air travel security system worked just swell when the Fruit of the Boom Underwear bomber failed to detonate his “device” over the skies of Detroit on Christmas day. Keep in mind that the Jihadist terrorist’s own father tried to warn US officials…
Obama counterterrorism adviser John Brennan declaring that Jihad means only “holy struggle” and is a legitimate tenet of Islam…so we don’t dare use the term “Jihadist.” Brennan may want to look up the term in Islamic law texts. Just sayin’…
This is a very sensitive subject with Brennan. He doesn’t like to be asked about it…
On May 13, 2010 Attorney General Holder turns himself into a pretzel in a futile attempt to avoid even acknowledging the term “radical Islam…”
Janet Napolitano proclaims that our government is working 24/7 “364” days a year to keep us safe….WOW…just…WOW…
And the latest and greatest, the stooges get a new member, Director of National Intelligence Clapper gets caught flatfooted on national TV not having the foggiest notion that 12 Jihadist terrorist suspects have been apprehended in London that very day…he later admits to not knowing about the arrests. This is the man who briefs the President each morning…
The Jihad Threat on the Southern U.S. Border
The web site Policeone.com has a good article on a subject that has come up from time to time but has not received enough attention: Jihadist terrorists operating along America’s border with Mexico.
This is an issue that has been known to US policymakers and officials for several years now. Back in 2006, in testimony before the US Congress, the director of the FBI acknowledged a Hezbollah presence on the southern border:
More recently, Congresswoman Sue Myrick, head of the Counterterrorism Caucus, detailed in the Washington Times about a case currently before a federal court in New York involving a Hezbollah cell in Mexico:
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/sep/1/hezbollah-car-bombs-on-our-border/
In fact, there is a lengthy history of Jihadist activity involving Mexico and the border:

The PoliceOne article, by Doug Wyllie, goes into great detail, especially on the tactical level, about the threat from Jihad on America’s vulnerable southern border (pay especially close attention to the video on the PoliceOne page):

American Operatives Helping Push al Qaida’s “War of Attrition”
The ever-expanding list of U.S.-bred al Qaida operatives shows the terror group is trying to “flood the zone” of U.S. intelligence services to capitalize on what it considers a weakened America in the midst of a recession. This goal involves pushing forward an assortment of attacks and terror plots by lone wolves and poorly trained cells, experts say.
Al Qaida “has never claimed it could or would defeat the U.S. militarily. Instead, it seeks to wear us down economically through increasing expenditures on domestic security and overseas military commitments,” Georgetown University Professor Bruce Hoffman said in recent congressional testimony. “Given the current global economic downturn, this message arguably now has greater resonance with al Qaida’s followers and supporters and perhaps even with new recruits.”
The goal behind these activities is “to consume the attention of law enforcement and intelligence in the hopes that this distraction will permit more serious terrorist operations to go unnoticed and thereby sneak in ‘beneath the radar’ and succeed,” Hoffman said.
Al Qaida “and its Pakistani, Somali and Yemeni allies arguably have been able to accomplish the unthinkable: establishing at least an embryonic terrorist recruitment, radicalization and operational infrastructure in the United States with effects both at home and abroad,” Hoffman said.

Fourth member of anti-Jewish terrorist group sentenced to 70 months
A United States federal judge in southern California handed down a 70-month prison term on Monday to Hammad Riaz Samana, the fourth Muslim member of an anti-Jewish terrorist cell to be sentenced. Other members of the cell are serving up to 20 years in jail.
Samana and his co-conspirators planned to attack synagogues, the Israeli consulate in Los Angeles, El Al Airlines and military bases. They planned to attack on the dates of Jewish holidays in order to maximize casualties.
The Jami’yyat Ul-Islam Is-Shaheeh terrorist cell was headed by Kevin James and included Samana, Levar Haley Washington and Gregory Patterson. They carried out 11 armed robberies on gas stations and used the cash to buy weapons before being arrested four years ago. Investigators in Washington’s apartment found bulletproof vests, knives, Jihad literature and lists of potential targets.
Washington is serving 22 years in jail, while James was sentenced to 16 years and Patterson was sentenced to 12.5 years. Judge Cormac Carney acknowledged that the 70-month jail sentence was lighter than the terms handed to other members of the cell and explained that he took into account the terrorist’s mental condition.
Samana, a native of Pakistan and a U.S. national, had conducted computer research to hit targets and was the getaway driver in at least one of the robberies. He was recruited at a mosque in Los Angeles.
Muslim Man Threatens to “Blow Up” Police Department in Louisiana
Press Release: On August 4, 2010, at 10:03 a.m., a police officer with the Vinton Police Department stopped 34-year-old Abdulrahman Abdallah Helou of Lafayette for speeding on Interstate 10. Helou was not able to provide proof of insurance for his vehicle. The officer then removed his license plate for an insurance violation.
Upon completion of the traffic stop, Helou traveled to the Department of Motor Vehicles office in Sulphur in an attempt to retrieve his license plate. After being denied his license plate, Helou called the Vinton Police Department and threatened to “blow up” the police department. Officials with the Vinton Police Department then obtained an arrest warrant for terrorizing.
At 3:20 p.m., Helou returned to the Department of Motor Vehicles office in Sulphur. Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop D responded and apprehended Helou. He was booked on the warrant into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center with a $250,000 bond.
Chicago man charged with aiding al Qaeda
A 26-year-old Chicago man was trying to help finance al-Qaida and hoped to blow himself up in a suicide mission, authorities say.
Shaker Masri was arrested Tuesday evening and charged by federal prosecutors on Wednesday with knowingly intending to use a weapon of mass destruction outside the United States.
Authorities said Masri told an FBI informant that he planned to go to Somalia and help al-Qaida, and asked the informant for money to help buy guns once they got there. He also told the informant that he hoped to become a martyr by wearing a suicide vest, the criminal complaint states.

Two Jihadists Convicted in 2007 Plan to Bomb JFK Fuel Storage Tanks
Russell Defreitas, a former JFK cargo handler, and Abdul Kadir, once a member of Guyana’s parliament, have been convicted on multiple conspiracy charges in their plan to attack John F. Kennedy International Airport’s fuel depot back in 2007.
TTB readers may recall that, when this plot was uncovered, the media ridiculed it as far-fetched. The New York Times relegated the story to page 37 of its daily paper edition. Evidently, a jury in New York decided that the plot was serious enough to send these two Jihadist terrorists to prison for a long time.
Defreitas and Kadir sought to kill thousands of innocent civilians and damage the US economy by blowing up the fuel tanks at JFK airport, as well as the pipelines that run underground through a nearby Queens residential area.
Secret FBI recordings revealed Defreitas boasting of his familiarity of JFK Airport and the potential weaknesses of its security.
“For years, I’ve been watching them,” Defreitas remarked of the huge fuel tanks while scouting for potential targets with an undercover FBI informant.
Defreitas also pointed out the seeming absence of any security, quipping, “No solider. Nothing at all.”
In other recordings, Defreitas raged about punishing America with an attack that would “dwarf 9/11.” He also can be heard telling the FBI informant that his U.S. citizenship gave him cover to conduct Jihad:
“They don’t expect nobody in this country to do something like this,” he said. “They have their eyes on foreigners, not me.”
Mexicans break up Hezbollah support network
Demonstrating the necessity of sealing the United States’ Southern border is news reported by the Kuwait based al-Sayassah newspaper, detailing a successful move by Mexican security officials to break up a sophisticated Hezbollah support network operating out of the troubled country.
The plot was led by Jameel Nasr, a frequent visitor to Lebanon, who was arrested at his residence in Tijuana. U.S. based national security researchers have long noted the increasing presence of Iran’s proxy army Hezbollah in Latin and South America.
