Lebanese News Website: Hezbollah intends to attack Western targets
According to the Lebanese news website, the Beirut Observer, the Jihadist terrorist organization Hezbollah is planning to attack Western targets. The site based its report on information obtained by a “Western intelligence agency” that intercepted message traffic to that effect.
The Observer reported that unnamed Western intelligence officials think that Hezbollah plans to attack Western targets, based on unusual movement of suspected Hezbollah and Iranian Revolutionary Guards operatives.
The article claimed that the goal of the attack would be to distract global public opinion from indictments expected to be handed down by a special UN tribunal investigating the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
It has been widely speculated that the UN tribunal will accuse Hezbollah members of involvement in the huge bomb attack on Hariri’s motorcade.
According to the Israeli news site Haaretz, earlier this week Israel’s counter terrorism bureau issued a warning that terrorists intended to carry out attacks against Israelis and Jewish targets abroad, specifying India, Thailand, Greece and Turkey as areas where an attack could take place. It is not known if the Israeli bulletin is related to the report on Hezbollah from the Beirut Observer.
Al Qaeda is known to be active in Turkey, where anti-Israeli sentiment has been on the rise for some time as Islamists expand and consolidate their political power. In addition to Hezbollah, Al Qaeda or other Turkish Jihadist groups could be motivated to attack Israeli or Jewish targets in Turkey.
Of course, India has been inflicted with a virtual menagerie of Jihadist terrorist groups, both domestic and from neighboring Pakistan. Lashkar-e-Taiba pulled off the spectacular Mumbai attacks targeting Jewish targets, but it is far from the only group operating in India, any of which could be prompted to attack Israeli or Jewish targets in India, either of their own volition or in the service of allied organizations.
Thailand has been wracked by a Jihadist insurgency for years in its southern regions. The Thai Jihadists are somewhat of an enigma and their ties to other Jihadist groups are unclear, but Thailand is an enormously popular tourist destination for Israeli and European tourists.
There is known to be Al Qaeda activity in Greece and Al Qaeda operatives have been apprehended there.
What all this adds up to is we could be talking about one threat or two distinct threats, one reported by the Beirut Observer from Hezbollah and another from Israeli authorities from unnamed terrorists in the four nations mentioned.
The possibility of Hezbollah launching attacks against the West in either Europe or the US has long been a deep concern for national security and counterterrorism practitioners. Hezbollah has been in existence for a decade longer than Al Qaeda and has been amply funded and equipped by Iran. Hezbollah is a much larger organization than Al Qaeda and is known to have cells, operatives and sympathizers spread throughout the world, including Asia, Europe and North and South America. Hezbollah has been referred to as the “A” team of Jihadist terrorism and Al Qaeda the “B” team. In fact Hezbollah trained Al Qaeda terrorists in Sudan during the 1990s.
Hezbollah is uniquely qualified to carry out terrorist attacks in the West. Such an attack would certainly not be unprecedented.
Hezbollah is believed to have carried out two bomb attacks in Argentina against the Israeli embassy in 1992 and at a Jewish Community Center in 1994. More than 120 innocent civilians were killed in those attacks. The attacks are also believed to have been carried out with Iranian support.
This makes sense since Hezbollah receives funding, arms and training from Iran, especially through Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.
An example of suspicious Iranian activity in support of possible terrorist strikes occurred in New York back from 2002 to 2006 when members of the Iranian UN mission were repeatedly caught by the NYPD for conducting obvious reconnaissance of New York landmarks and subways.
We can be sure that, when and if Hezbollah or Iran decide to strike in the West, the targets were already selected and prepped by operatives in place long before the attack occurs.
Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad (Carlos Bledsoe) Confesses to More Murderous Jihad
Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, (formerly known as Carlos Bledsoe) who reportedly studied jihad with an Islamic scholar in Yemen, is being tried for the shooting of two US Army soldiers outside a Little Rock, Arkansas armed forces recruiting office in the spring of 2009.
Muhammad shot Private William Long and Private Quinton I. Ezeagwula. Long died from his wounds.
Since that incident we have learned more about Muhammad’s violent actions after he returned from Yemen. For example, we have learned that he attempted to fire bomb the house of a Nashville rabbi with a Molotov cocktail.
Now we learn that Muhammad has cryptically confessed to another killing. In a letter to the Arkansas judge presiding over his trial for the recruiting center shootings, Muhammad claims that he killed another person back in 2006 because that person was robbing and harassing Muslims.
Muhammad has not offered any clues as to who the victim was or exactly where this crime may have occurred, only that it was in his home state of Tennessee. The only good news here is that Muhammad is already being tried for capital murder for his 2009 crime. Hopefully he will be convicted in quick order and will sooner, rather than later, have a date with a needle.
But we suspect that perhaps Muhammad is not so ready to go to paradise to meet his 72 virgins and is dangling this tidbit in hopes of getting some sort of leverage for leniency:
“If you agree not to seek the death penalty, I will tell you all about this other guy I killed.”
We hope his ruse does not work, though we realize that it may be several years before he meets the executioner.
What really bothers us though is the media seem to be bending over backwards to avoid investigating this guy’s activity. He converted to Islam and flew to Yemen for training and then came back and started killing Americans (and tried to set fire to a Nashville rabbi’s home with a Molotov cocktail).
Yet we see no press curiosity as to who approached him to convert to Islam in the first place, how he was recruited to Jihad or how he got to Yemen and back…
What happened to investigative journalism? Why isn’t someone going to the mosque at Tennessee Tech where he converted to ask a few questions? What turned Carlos Bledsoe into a monster named Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad? Was he a member of the Muslim Students Association? Who else from that mosque went to Yemen? If Bledsoe was involved with the MSA, what, if any, role did that group, or some of its members, play in his transformation to Islamic Jihadist?
Why isn’t anyone asking these questions?
Key man behind Kandahar hijack held in Chile
Jihad is global. We are in a world war. Need proof? A wanted Jihadist terrorist from Pakistan was just arrested in…Chile…
Key man behind Kandahar hijack held in Chile
In a major breakthrough, Abdul Rauf, one of the masterminds of the 1999 Kandahar hijack and a brother-in-law of dreaded terrorist Maulana Masood Azhar, has been arrested in Chile. Masood Azhar, the boss of the Jaish-e-Mohammed was one of the three persons released from a jail in Jammu in exchange of more than 150 passengers held hostage at Kandahar on board the hijacked Indian Airlines flight IC-814.
The flight had taken off from Kathmandu on December 24 1999 and the hostage crisis lasted some six days. The Central Bureau of Investigation, in its chargesheet in the case had named Rauf, a Pakistan national, as one of the key financiers and plotters of the hijack.
A reward of Rs 10 lakh had been announced and he is wanted in India in the hijacking case. As per the CBI, he should be about 37 years of age. The last time the name of Abdul Rauf surfaced was when he was reportedly “called in” by Pakistani authorities in October 2009 to negotiate the release of 42 persons taken hostages by pro-Taliban militants at a military garrison in Rawalpindi. This indicated that some one in the Pakistan establishment knew where to contact Rauf.
A joint team of the CBI and the Research Analysis Wing (RAW) will be going to Chile tomorrow to verify whether arrested Abdul Rauf is the same person wanted in this country.
The CBI’s task is daunting as it does not have Rauf’s picture or his fingerprints. In its recent tranche of leaked cables, Wikileaks had suggested that in 2005 India had of more than 150 passengers held hostage at Kandahar on board the hijacked Indian Airlines flight IC-814. The flight had taken off from Kathmandu on December 24 1999 and the hostage crisis lasted some six days. In its recent tranche of leaked cables, Wikileaks had suggested that in 2005 India had asked the US for his photograph besides seeking permission to interrogate Mansoor Akhtar, ex-Civil Aviation Minister in the Taliban Government of Afghanistan, and Akhtar Usmani, the Taliban corps commander in Kandahar – both reportedly in the custody of the American authorities. The latter two were at the helm when the hijack took place.
Sources in the government said the CBI was informed that a person Abdul Rauf had been nabbed for travelling on forged documents. An Interpol Red Corner notice was pending against Rauf.
A team would be soon going to Chile to ascertain his identity as well as question him, the sources said, adding some help could be asked from friendly intelligence agencies.According to the confessional statement of Abdul Latif, one of the conspirators who is in an Indian jail at present Abdul Rauf and Yusuf Azhar, a brother of Masood Azhar, criss-crossed India and Nepal several times. It was in July 1999 that the hijack plot took shape.
In August, Abdul Latif was told about the plan and he forged passports and travel documents for the five hijackers. At a crucial meeting of the gang in the Kathmandu on December 13, Latif was told he would not be on the hijacked plane but should remain as the gang’s point-man in Mumbai.
When the Hijacking took place Abdul Rauf called up Abdul Latif, asking him to call up the BBC offices in London and give details of the hijacking. The call was intercepted by the Mumbai police and Latif was picked up even as the Indian agencies negotiated for the release of passengers.

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula Reported to Be Close to Launching Terror Attack
Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the Al Qaeda affiliate in Yemen may be close to launching a terrorist attack, according to US intelligence agencies…
The threat from AQAP comes as counterterrorism operations in Yemen have evidently been interrupted by mass demonstrations against the 32-year rule of President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
US officials have articulated worries that the unrest sweeping the Arab world could hinder counterterrorism efforts.
Evidence Mounts of Jihadi Involvement in Libyan Rebel Forces
More and more, we are seeing evidence that the rebel forces that NATO has intervened on behalf of are Islamist Jihadis, some with links to Al Qaeda with some of those being veterans of the war against US forces in Iraq and Afghanistan…We have collected a series of articles on this subject matter for our readers’ review:
Decoding Libya
by Andrew McCarthy
It has come to light in just the last few days that commanders of the “rebels” (you know, those secular freedom fighters who are supposedly better for us than Qaddafi) include one Abdul-Hakim al-Hasadi. And, I’ll be darned, it turns out that Hasadi is a jihadist who fought the United States in Afghanistan, and was detained for years until our forces turned him over to Libya.

Evidence is emerging that United States forces are waging war in Libya on behalf of rebels whose ranks include jihadis who fought against the U.S. in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Why is Obama Helping Al-Qaeda Terrorists Overthrow Gaddafi?
By Jim Hoft
A 2007 West Point study showed that the Benghazi-Darnah-Tobruk region in Libya was a world leader in Al Qaeda suicide bomber recruitment.
The leader of the Libyan rebel forces fought against the US in Afghanistan until he was captured in 2002. He also admitted that his fighters have Al-Qaeda links.

Abu Sayyaf kidnaps Filipino fishermen, demands ransom
Suspected Abu Sayyaf Jihadist terrorists kidnapped three fishermen in the southern Philippines and called their employer to demand ransom.
Boat captain Renato Panisales and two crewmen were fishing off southern Sulu province Saturday when Abu Sayyaf gunmen approached on a motorboat and abducted them at gunpoint. The terrorists called the captives’ fishing company in nearby Zamboanga city on Sunday to demand ransom.
In a separate kidnapping, three Abu Sayyaf gunmen seized restaurant caretaker Rolando dela Cruz on Monday in Lamitan town on Basilan island near Sulu. They fled aboard a jeep, which the terrorists later burned.
Army troops and police pursued the kidnappers, who were pressured into abandoning Cruz near a remote village in Basilan’s Tuburan town late Monday. Government forces handed the victim back to Lamitan town officials.
Cruz’s kidnappers were believed to be led by Abu Sayyaf commander Nurhassan Jamiri, who has been blamed for kidnappings, bombings and beheadings in predominantly Muslim Basilan.
Al-Qaida-linked Abu Sayyaf, notorious for bombings, kidnappings for ransom and beheadings, is blacklisted by Washington as a terrorist organization. U.S.-backed offensives have taken out several of its top leaders and hindered its ability to launch bombings and other attacks.
A recent government threat assessment report said the 410 remaining Abu Sayyaf fighters, who remain without a central leader, have been hounded by funding problems, forcing them to kidnap even poor victims to get ransom.
The new kidnappings and a recent deadly bombing in Sulu indicate the danger posed by the terrorists despite their many battle setbacks and underscore the difficulty of fighting terrorism.
Intelligence reports show the kidnappers and the fishermen were moving about in Sulu’s coastal town of Patikul, where the Abu Sayyaf has mountain strongholds.
Patikul officials were trying to establish contact with the kidnappers to negotiate because a rescue attempt might danger the hostages.
The militants killed at least six hostages whose families failed to pay ransom immediately last year, according to the government report.
At their strongest, the Abu Sayyaf seized 21 people, mostly European tourists, from the Malaysian resort of Sipadan in 2000, and abducted three Americans and 17 Filipinos from the Philippines’ Dos Palmas resort the following year.
The Sipadan hostages were freed, reportedly for huge ransoms. One of the three American hostages from Dos Palmas was beheaded, while a second was killed during an army rescue attempt. The third American was wounded but freed in the army rescue operation.
Report: Lashkar-e-Taiba Expanding in Europe and USA
The Pakistani terrorist group linked to Al-Qaeda called Lashkar-e-Taiba is expanding its operations in Europe and the U.S., according to information in aNew York Times article pointed out by the Jihad Watch blog.
Lashkar-e-Taiba is most known for carrying out 10 simultaneous attacks in Mumbai, India on November 26, 2008 that killed 164 people. The attackers arrived using speedboats and carried out various shootings and bombings on “soft” targets including hotels, a restaurant and a Jewish community center.
According to the report, Lashkar-e-Taiba is no longer just targeting India but is fighting U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan and wants to carry out attacks in Europe and the United States. It is also increasing its fundraising in Germany and the United Kingdom. The group has previously pledged to “plant a flag” in Tel Aviv and Washington, D.C.

The Obama Security Team’s Greatest Hits
We can all feel safe and secure knowing that Obama’s crack national security team is on the job…right???
Janet Napolitano claims on CNN Dec. 27, 2009 that the air travel security system worked just swell when the Fruit of the Boom Underwear bomber failed to detonate his “device” over the skies of Detroit on Christmas day. Keep in mind that the Jihadist terrorist’s own father tried to warn US officials…
Obama counterterrorism adviser John Brennan declaring that Jihad means only “holy struggle” and is a legitimate tenet of Islam…so we don’t dare use the term “Jihadist.” Brennan may want to look up the term in Islamic law texts. Just sayin’…
This is a very sensitive subject with Brennan. He doesn’t like to be asked about it…
On May 13, 2010 Attorney General Holder turns himself into a pretzel in a futile attempt to avoid even acknowledging the term “radical Islam…”
Janet Napolitano proclaims that our government is working 24/7 “364” days a year to keep us safe….WOW…just…WOW…
And the latest and greatest, the stooges get a new member, Director of National Intelligence Clapper gets caught flatfooted on national TV not having the foggiest notion that 12 Jihadist terrorist suspects have been apprehended in London that very day…he later admits to not knowing about the arrests. This is the man who briefs the President each morning…
The Jihad Threat on the Southern U.S. Border
The web site Policeone.com has a good article on a subject that has come up from time to time but has not received enough attention: Jihadist terrorists operating along America’s border with Mexico.
This is an issue that has been known to US policymakers and officials for several years now. Back in 2006, in testimony before the US Congress, the director of the FBI acknowledged a Hezbollah presence on the southern border:
More recently, Congresswoman Sue Myrick, head of the Counterterrorism Caucus, detailed in the Washington Times about a case currently before a federal court in New York involving a Hezbollah cell in Mexico:
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/sep/1/hezbollah-car-bombs-on-our-border/
In fact, there is a lengthy history of Jihadist activity involving Mexico and the border:

http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/opinion/s_620146.html
The PoliceOne article, by Doug Wyllie, goes into great detail, especially on the tactical level, about the threat from Jihad on America’s vulnerable southern border (pay especially close attention to the video on the PoliceOne page):
